Gaudi’s “Bad Boy Bass” Remix Contest

Gaudi - Bad Boy Bass by SixDegreesRecords

Gaudi’s “Bad Boy Bass” Remix Contest

London based producer and solo artist Gaudi’s latest project, No Prisoners will be released on March 23, after a very fertile year in which the renowned artist toured the world, rocking dance floors and gathering fans with his unconventional innovative performance style and irresistibly floor friendly tunes. It was also a year where Gaudi was nominated for a BBC World Music Award for his Six Degrees release, Dub Qawwali (in which he added all new reggae & dub production to rare and previously unreleased tracks by the revered Pakistani vocalist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan). On his previous releases, Gaudi has worked to create his own unique synthesis, using elements of dub, electronica and world music producing tracks that have been mostly down-tempo in nature. No Prisoners is a very different and definitely up-tempo creation. Stylistically its primary energy comes from breakbeat influences underpinned with fat basslines and subtle live world instrumentation such as Oud and tribal percussion.

Six Degrees Records, in association with the Generation Bass blog & Fairtilizer, are happy to be offering you the opportunity to remix No Prisoners’ lead single “Bad Boy Bass” – a floor shredding homage to the chest -rattling, speaker-shaking power of the all mighty bass. Music has been part of Bharat’s life ever since his very existence. For him, music is a whole lot more than a means of entertainment or leisure. Music, to him is a medium which brings forward and reflects the depths of a creative human mind.

He learnt and played the table for about 6 years and has his Masters in Audio Engineering. Which helps with his crips grooves, punchy basslines, Intricate Synth lines and seductive vocal pressing, with an overall vibe that unique.

and heres is some of his new material, categorized as Experimental Desi R&B, with its soft spoken rhyming layered over some dub step inspired beats

Waves of Faith

The Chhath Puja is performed to the Sun God for sustaining life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes. Sun, considered the god of energy and the life-force, is worshiped during Chhath for well-being, prosperity and progress.

The rituals of the festival are rigorous and are observed over a period of 4 days. They include the holy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water (Vratta), Standing in water for long periods of time and offering prashad and aghrya to the setting and rising sun.

Now heres where I was going with the theme of H20

Rishi's track "Salila" which means water has all the elements to help define such a property. Blissful basslines, fluid tabla rhythms and a great sitar arrangement

Canadian Indo-Jazz Fusion

His name is Ed Hanley and he began his tabla (north Indian classical percussion) training in Toronto, Canada with Ritesh Das, and has studied with master drummers Swapan Chaudhuri in California and Anindo Chatterjee in Calcutta, India.

Ed's interests span from Karnatic(south indian) vocal percussion and drumming traditions to conducting Bharatanatyam (classical indian dance). Ed has performed across Canada, and in the USA, Europe and India in a variety of world, jazz and classical settings

We at chaiwallas were caught off gaurd by this brilliant composition he did for a modern dance group titled "Tata Blablabla", without a question it will get your foot tapping and your head shaking.

"Then Hanley transformed song to spectacle with a brain-liquifying tabla solo, an onslaught of percussive sixteenth notes and syncopated shifts hammered out by his wrists and fingers with such precision that… well, you really had to be there.

Let's just say that as Hanley's beat went on, the man on my left purred like a cat savouring a sumptuous can of tuna."

Pornographic Tabla Bass

They call themselves the Mumbai Mafia and have many parallels with the real Mumbai Mafia
a) They fly completely off radar
b) Their sound is underground and sleazy
